- Giorgino “Gino” Macalino is Director of R&D for Coty’s Prestige color brands, overseeing product innovation for brands like Kylie Cosmetics, Marc Jacobs Beauty, Gucci and Burberry. With nearly two decades of leadership across global beauty companies, he specializes in cosmetic formulation systems, driving high-performance teams, and innovative technologies in makeup science. Gino’s formulation expertise spans pigmented emulsions, anhydrous systems, powders, semi-solids, solar protection, and high active ingredient makeup formulas with targeted performance benefits. He also advanced material science in cosmetics, developing glass-based effects pigments for high impact artistry. Previously, he held senior technical roles at Estée Lauder, Avon, Croda, and Oxygen Development. Born in the Philippines, Gino moved to the U.S. at 15, earning a degree in Chemistry at Fairleigh Dickinson University and an MBA from Fordham’s Gabelli School of Business. A past Chair of the New York Society of Cosmetics Chemists (NYSCC), he continues to contribute to the field as a volunteer leader and editorial board member for Personal Care Magazine. . Beyond the lab, Gino is passionate about mentoring the next generation of cosmetic scientists.
