- Alex Flohr is the founder and CEO of Chromallogy, a beauty technology company building the scientific standard for how brands make complexion decisions. Chromallogy built the most sophisticated model of human skin tone to date, a fixed reference brands measure every shade decision against, built from how skin creates color rather than from what the industry has already made. Flohr built Chromallogy's technology to work across the full arc of complexion development. Brands get a scientific starting point for new shade ranges, with lab-ready briefs chemists can formulate from on day one. Existing lines get audited against the model, showing where ranges carry redundant shades and where they leave populations unserved. Portfolios get rationalized, so brands know what to keep, what to cut, and whether their shade complexity is an asset or a liability. And shade accuracy holds across every medium a product lives in, from the bottle to the shelf to the screen. The industry has never had a fixed standard to measure complexion decisions against. Chromallogy is built to become that standard rather than relying on sampling. Before Chromallogy, Flohr spent over a decade working with Fortune 500 companies, advising on innovation strategy and category creation. Her career was built on finding the gap between what a market needs and what an industry keeps making, then translating complex systems problems into products that could scale. That lens is what let her look at complexion development, an 80-year-old guessing game the industry had stopped questioning, and see a problem that was solvable. Chromallogy is the result: that same discipline, applied to the category that needed it most. An engineer and industrial designer by training, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science in Industrial Design, both from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
