- Dana Valencia is the Sr. Director Quality Control (QC) & Regulatory Affairs at Jones Road Beauty where she oversees their global product compliance, and QC management. Her role includes regulation oversight, registration, testing, labeling, claims review, and consumer product safety inquiries on their products. She also oversees quality issues and their solutions, complaints, adverse and serious adverse event monitoring, auditing, and process improvements with both internal and external partners. Dana has been in the cosmetic industry for over 19 years. Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University at Albany School of Business, New York she continued her studies in the science field which landed her first job in cosmetics with the contract manufacturer, Kolmar Laboratories, Inc. (now called KDC One). She started as a Junior Chemist formulating personal care products and over-the-counter drugs, then worked her way up to Group Leader of the Personal Care lab. From there she transitioned over to the regulatory group at Kolmar as their Senior Manager of Product Integrity where she found her passion to be regulatory driven. Over time, Dana made the move to Burt’s Bees, owned by Clorox, working in Global Stewardship management for the natural personal care brand. Then came Jones Road Beauty, located in Montclair, NJ which offered a growth opportunity working with makeup artist Bobbi Brown (founder), and the team where she calls her new home. Over the years Dana has continued to stay active with industry associations including the Independent Beauty Association, the Personal Care Products Council, Fragrance Creators Association and the Global Retailer and Manufacturer Alliance to monitor industry changes. As Dana is always looking to learn more and accept new challenges, the exciting cosmetic field has proven to be a perfect match. Dana operates with a positive attitude, is not afraid to ask questions, and gets her hands dirty with the team.
